When Facebook hunts for new talent, what tops its wish list? Brace yourself for a surprise. The giant social network – now valued at more $150 billion – is in the midst of a skills quest that doesn't involve its usual pursuit of software virtuosos. What Facebook craves these days is people who can sell. Scan the listings on Facebook's careers page , and you'll find an impressive 170 or so openings in sales and business development. (The exact total fluctuates slightly, day by day.) The reason: Facebook's money engine is built on advertising. Even in the highly automated world of online marketing, it turns out that making deals come together still requires a human touch. There isn't a single technical department at Facebook that is as eager to hire. 1. Yotaphone One of our favorite phones from CES is coming to the US by the end of the year. The Yotaphone is a well-designed Android phone with a 4.3-inch e-ink screen on the back. You can 'throw' images onto the back screen to turn it into a custom case; you can also use it to show the time and date, weather, RSS feeds, or other useful information. This is genuinely useful rather than a gimmick, and it's genuinely new, too. 2. Sony Xperia ZL We may not be getting the flagship Sony Xperia Z here in the U.S., but we're getting the Xperia ZL. It's unusually small and slim for a phone with a 5-inch 1080p display, and it includes an IR blaster to control your home entertainment devices.
