A gr8 project 4 ur kids
Easy
Beanie Kit
With Fall quickly approaching, it
means it's time to pull out your hat, scarf, and gloves. This year, give your
kids this festive Fall project which allows them to make their very own yarn
beanie!
The Threads beanie kit comes with all the supplies needed to make one yarn beanie.
If your kids do not want to use the fun purple, red and pink yarn that
comes in the kit, they do not have to; any yarn can be used with the peg loom!
Why not grab a few of these kits and
plan a Fall beanie making party?
Here's what you get in
your Threads Beanie Kit
Here's what you'll need:
- Threads Beanie Kit
- Yarn - I decided to use yellow yarn instead of the yarn that came in the kit.
- Sissors
Let's get crafty!
Step 1: Take the end of your yarn and wrap it around the peg on the outside of your loom. Make sure you wrap it tight enough so it does not come off.
Step 2: Take your yarn and wrap it behind and around the peg to the left of your exterior peg. Keep moving around your pegs wrapping behind and around all of your pegs.
Step 3: Once you get to the first peg, go around all of your pegs one more time wrapping your yarn on top of the row you just made. Stop when you get to the last peg (the peg to the right of your exterior peg).
Step 4: When you wrap the last peg, hold the string behind the peg and use your hook to pull the bottom piece of yarn over your second piece of yarn.

Step 5: Then, pull the yarn over your peg. Move around your
entire loom pulling the bottom yarn over the top yarn. You should be
left with only one loop on all of your pegs.
Step 6: Repeat Steps 3, 4, and 5. Your yarn will start to form
a tube shape the more rows you add. Keep adding rows until your tube is
long enough to cover your head.
Step 7: Once your beanie is long
enough, take your yarn and warp it all of the
way around the exterior of your loom. Then, cut your yarn so it is at
least 5 inches from the end of your loom.
Step 8: Thread your needle with the yarn you just cut.
Step 9: Take your needle and go up and under the yarn on the peg to
the right of your exterior peg.
Step 10: Pull up on your yarn so your loop comes off of your peg.
Step 11: Keep going around your loom until all of your loops are off
of your loom.
Step 12: Once all of your loops are off, pull your string tightly.
This will pull all of your loops nice and tight, forming the top of your
hat.
Step 13: Take your needle and run it through the top of your beanie
to the inside. Tie a knot.
Step 14: Finally, take the string on
the brim of your hat, run it through a couple of loops, and then tie a knot.
You are finished!
